Farewell to Matthew

After two and a half years serving as the Children’s and Youth Services Librarian at our library, Matthew White will leave his position at the end of September. Matthew and his wife, Andrea, are moving to Antigo, WI, where Matthew will continue his career as Youth Librarian at the Antigo Public Library. Andrea will be teaching English in a nearby school district. While Matthew is excited for this new opportunity, the move is bittersweet. He has truly enjoyed his time at Park Falls and all of the wonderful children and adults he has gotten to know. Matthew started as the Children’s and Youth Services Librarian in March of 2010, when he replaced retiring librarian Sherry Ryther.

Matthew is working to prepare the library for a new Children’s Librarian during the month of September, so there may be some signs of transition and change. Programs, like Storytime and Tail Waggin’ Tutors, are expected to continue with new leadership. The Color My Library project will also continue, so watch for more changes as the Children’s room nears the completion of its new look. Matthew would be happy to speak to patrons about the change and say goodbye in the month ahead, so look for him at his desk during library hours.

The Children’s and Youth Services Librarian position is currently open for applications, with a closing deadline of September 9, 2012. Inquire at the library or through the Indianhead Federated Library System website for more information. The new Children’s and Youth Services Librarian is tentatively scheduled to begin work on September 24, 2012.
